Our Homes with a View

About Us

l’Amiradou: a belvedere or panoramic view point
in the Vaucluse dialect of Provence

Twenty years ago, we fell in love with the unspoilt Vaucluse. Despite being part of Provence, the Vaucluse had kept much of the charm that enchanted us in the stories of Marcel Pagnol. This was Provence before its discovery by mass tourism - the small hilltop villages around the region overlooking a host of small vineyards (rather than sprawling conurbations of holiday homes). Yet, it is a region that has not been left behind in a more cosmopolitan world, where quiet sophistication and good taste can be found around every corner.

At the foot of Mont Ventoux, we found an old village farmhouse in need of some love and attention. We called it l’Amiradou because it was a home and a belvedere, whose panoramic views over the Vaucluse we have found to be healing. We find peace and tranquility whenever we are there.
What is it about panoramic vistas and delightful vignettes of a simpler life that helps us relax, feel lighter? As we looked out over the views of the Vaucluse, we could literally hear the hiss of city-life stress escaping from the base of our necks, like air escaping a pin prick in a balloon. We dreamt of a place of our own to rest and recharge, a view to help us remember how wonderful the world we live in can be, and found a home where we can be ourselves.

This was the beginning of our collection of private estates where you can be At Home with a View.
In different parts of the world, we have found unique homes with views from our doorstep that recharge.

Our homes are places where you can relax and rest and be away from it all. Yet, for the days when you feel energised, there is also much to do nearby. From country sports to great food and historical sites, you will be spoilt for choice when you decide to venture away from tranquility for a while.

Cotswolds, England

You can’t find many bad views in the Cotswolds - the largest area of outstanding beauty in England and Wales. Our secluded private farming estate at the edge of a quintessentially Cotswolds village is no exception

Preserving the elegance of an Arts and Craft era with modern conveniences in heating and plumbing, our homely estate has stunning views over the Windrush Valley. Comprising a substantial (but not overwhelming) manor house, an adjacent stable block with its charming self-contained two bedroom flat, the estate also extends to formal gardens, kitchen garden and orchard. This is a working farm; we have further cottages and a spacious modernised stone barn on the estate. Guests have the pleasure and privacy afforded by surrounding private woodland, pastures and gardens while having help always close at hand.

Nozawa Onsen, Japan

Himecho@Yasushi is a traditional machiya style house where guests can experience living in authentic Japanese style! Your comfort is ensured - Himecho@Yasushi is now managed by Residence Yasushi.

Himecho@Yasushi is centrally located within the village. Step out of the front door and you will find views over the village paid fields, a quaint ashi-Yu (hot foot bath) and the cooking onsens of the village. Lying at the foot of the Yu Road moving walkway with direct access to the Hikage ski area, and close to Ogama, the spiritual heart of the village, you would be hard pressed to find another private villa with the same combination of charm and convenience. Himecho@Yasushi is a historic machiya-style house, unique in Nozawa Onsen, and accommodates families or groups of up to 12 persons comfortably.

Provence, France

The original inspiration for the Amiradou Collection, Provence holds a special place in this portfolio. Our home here is at the foothills of Mont Ventoux, a cycling mecca for all Tour de France enthusiasts. Amiradou in Provence exerts a powerful influence for each of us staying here to get away from our daily routine. We come to get out among olive trees, lavender and vineyards; to wander rocky, herb-infused landscapes; and to listen to the nightingales and drink great local wine under the stars.

An imposing village home with a panoramic views from every room over vineyards to the revered Mont Ventoux, l’Amiradou in Crillon le Brave comprises six spacious bedrooms (three are full suites with their own sitting room),
the convenience of an internal lift allowing disabled access and pampering for those less keen on navigating the stairs,
and warm welcoming common living areas.

Queenstown,
New Zealand

Some of the world’s most spectacular natural beauty (it is no wonder that Peter Jackson chose to film much of the Lord of the Rings here) surrounds our home in Middle Earth. From the emerald rainforests to the dramatic Southern Alps, the views all around us will not fail to enthrall.

An award-winning four bedroom home with stunning views over Coronet Peak and the Remarkables through to the turquoise blue of Lake Wakatipu, Kumanu is a haven of privacy, peace and tranquility. Interior accents inspired by Art Deco bring an understated elegance to one of our favourite homes - where we find we relax and recharge without fail. Arrowtown is closest but we are situated with equally easy access to Queenstown and Wanaka, as well as the ski fields of Coronet Peak and Cardrona.
